This is the slate sign in the hamlet of Stonethwaite which was referred to in the previous post.
We like walking from Rosthwaite up to the village of Stonethwaite and then up the left hand side of the beck and crossing over by the footbridge. The return to the hamlet is then down the other side of the beck. The climb up from the footbridge can be rather boggy!
You can reach your starting point of Rosthwaite by a pleasant walk over the fields – passing by Moraine Cottage – named for reasons which are very obvious.
