The usual access to the Chinese Bridge – which then leads on to the “duckboard” walk through the reeds at the foot of the lake – is reached from the Borrowdale road close to the Lodore Falls Hotel. We set off to do this walk – one of our favourites – but we were rather optimistic that morning – the lake levels were such that the Chinese Bridge was inaccessable!
