A misty early evening view from Latrigg across to Causey Pike and the north western fells. Causey Pike is easily recogised by its “bumpy” summit. Many people start the walk from near the hamlet of Stair – up over the heathery ridge of Rowling End and thence to the summit. The final stretch is via a rock cutting – a real bit of mountaineering. The ridge route continues over Scar Crags and thence up over Sail – which is a bit of a trudge – and onto Eel Crag at 2749 feet. A good return route is via Sail Pass and then back down the old mine road down to Stair.
