Looking towards Derwentwater

One of our favourite walks is to start from the top of the Honister Pass and walk back down to Grange. For the energetic a detour can be made on the way to the top of Castle Crag! This photo is taken close to the path up the latter.

Sometimes we take an alternative route turning right before this point and walking down to the river at Rosthwaite and so back through the woods to Seatoller. This walk works well if you take the bus one way up the Borrowdale valley and leave your car at your end point. Whichever version of the walk that you do the views are magnificent and you gradually get the view of the lake with the bulk of Skiddaw beyond.

There is a choice of tea shops in Grange or it is nice to picnic by the river there.
