Grapes at Croft House

These were just part of the crop of grapes on the front of Croft House in December. We also used to reliably grow delicious white-fleshed peaches close to where the grape is located.

Gardening on the slopes of Skiddaw can be difficult as you do not have to dig very far down before you reach rather stoney soil. Creating a planting hole for anything other than the smaller plants can take some effort!

The gardens of the Lake District are renowned for their azaleas and rhododendrons. We like especially the gardens at Muncaster Castle.
