Come in number 39 - and 39 - and 39

Just a fun photo – Number 39 and little Number 39 and another little Number 39!

The photo was taken in the heart of Millbeck village – just 10 to 15 minutes walk along the Terrace Road from Applethwaite to Millbeck. Millbeck was in years gone by the site of a woolen mill. The mill building is now owned by the National Trust and called “Millbeck Towers”. It is used as a holiday cottage for large groups of people.

There is still Tenters Field – a reminder of times when the woven materials were hung out to dry on tall poles. The mill in Millbeck used to produce Wool blankets but closed with the growth of mills in Lancashire.
