Our four self catering Lake District holiday cottages have magnificent Derwentwater and fell views and peaceful settings in the village of Applethwaite just over one mile from Keswick. The properties are away from the hustle and bustle of the town but with all the facilities in Keswick on hand and with easy access to many other areas of the Lake District. Two of the cottages are suitable for guests with limited mobility – Croft Corner for 2 and Upper House for 6.
Applethwaite nestles at the foot of Skiddaw which rises to over 3000 feet above it. The village has that air of being unchanged over the years. Wainwright’s opinion was that the summit of Skiddaw Little Man was “supreme above all others for it commands the most beautiful and comprehensive view of the Lake District” – that view looks out over Applethwaite and Croft House to Keswick and Derwentwater and the fells beyond. It is very special to be part of that view and to be able to share it with visitors to the area.
With just four holiday cottages we like to feel we offer a very personal self catering service – each year between 40 and 50% of our bookings are from returning guests – indeed some guests have returned many times and are no longer guests but friends who we always look forward to welcoming back.
We hope that one of our cottages will be of interest to you – please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries about any cottage or the location.
